The Waltham Forest branch of Palestine Solidarity Campaign is having a buffet evening at the Star of India in Leytonstone to raise funds for an appeal to the Supreme Court.

The PSC took the government to court after it ruled that local councils could not make ethical decisions about investments they made, particularly their pension investments. The PSC won its case, but on appeal the court overturned the lower court’s decision and so the PSC wants to appeal to the Supreme Court. However such appeals are expensive and Bindmans LLP estimate that the appeal will cost about £100,000. So far the PSC has raised over half this and are making a final push towards raising the balance.
Waltham Forest PSC is trying to raise £500 towards the target. So far they have raised about half this figure and this buffet and jazz evening at the Star of India if well attended will net the balance. The Star of India’s owner has always been supportive of the community and also provides very tasty food! Hope to see you all there.
