Bags of Taste Pop Up Kitchen
Salvation Army, Forest Road, Walthamstow

Access to healthy food is a key element of the wellbeing of all of us but, perhaps surprisingly is not a reality for everyone as a result of various barriers both real and perceived.  “Bags of Taste” is a local project being introduced to Walthamstow this Autumn that will help people overcome these barriers and increase their opportunity to enjoy the benefits of healthy meals every day.

Guests will be learning how to cook delicious food for less than £1 a portion. After participating in the course, students will find they are making significant savings on their food bills, eating more healthily and reducing eating takeaways and ready meals. Guests will feel empowered to take control of their diets, also cook for family and friends and feel more connected to their local community. This really makes a difference to the fullness of life open to them.

Each lesson includes a food demonstration, practical hands on learning to prepare the recipes and opportunity to take part in a free community lunch. If you have a Walthamstow postcode you are welcome to attend as a guest.

But perhaps you may have the skills to help Andrew and Judy as volunteers, setting up the Pop Up kitchen hall at the Salvation Army on Forest Road in Walthamstow and supporting guests to get the most from this course.  Please consider offering your help by joining in as a volunteer – in particular we are looking for some help for four Fridays in November between 11.30am to 2.45pm.
